Our Expertise

Dr. Brigham Clawson is from Las Vegas, NV. He attended BYU for his undergraduate degree. He received a Bachelors of Arts in Spanish with a minor in Chemistry; he graduated magna cum laude. He finished 3rd in his class from UNLV School of Dental Medicine in Las Vegas, NV and graduated suma cum laude where he served as the class president for all 4 years as well as other positions in the Hispanic Dental Society and Ferrin's Veteran Clinic. He completed an endodontic residency at Texas A&M College of Dentistry where he was awarded his Endodontic Certificate and Masters in Science (M.S.) in Oral Biology. He has published several research articles focusing on topics such as secondary ion mass spectrometry, various bacteria within the oral microbiome, and root canal anatomy along with the endodontic complexities that accompany them.

In his practice, he utilizes state-of-the-art technologies such as digital x-rays, microscopes, and modern disinfection devices. The latest advancements in our practice include laser-activated endodontic irrigants, cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) imaging, as well the use of bioceramic sealers and root repair materials.

Dr. Clawson and his family currently reside in Melissa, TX. In his free time, Dr. Clawson enjoys golfing, playing sand volleyball, and playing pickleball with his family. He and his wife have two kids. Dr. Clawson, like many dads, falls victim to caring too much about his son's sports success and often spends a lot of time in the backyard practicing with him.

Apicoectomy and Retro Fill

A root canal is a procedure to treat infection or inflammation inside the tooth. It involves removing the infected or damaged pulp (the tooth’s soft tissue containing nerves and blood vessels), cleaning and disinfecting the root canals, and sealing them with a biocompatible material. This helps save the tooth and prevent further infection. Occasionally, a root canal is needed in order to place a post to allow for better retention of a crown on the tooth after significant loss of crown height.

Endodontic retreatment is performed when a previously treated root canal has failed or complications have developed, such as persistent infection or incomplete healing. The procedure involves reopening the tooth, removing the old filling material, cleaning and disinfecting the canals, and refilling the canals to resolve the issue.

An apicoectomy is a surgical procedure to remove the tip (apex) of a tooth’s root to treat persistent infection that has spread beyond the root canal. After removing the infected tissue and root tip, a retrofilling (placing a small filling at the root’s end) is done to seal the canal and prevent future infections. This procedure is typically used when root canal treatment or retreatment cannot resolve the infection.
